It has finally reached that time of year again! It's getting cold, the holidays are fast approaching and schedules are becoming packed! A lot of us will be traveling, visiting family and making wonderful memories.
I always look forward to the time that I get to spend with family - especially this time of year. Our reunions, parties and dinners hold some of my best childhood memories. I was so excited to begin making these memories with my own children once Dan and I were married.
Our second Winter as a married couple started off mild and would remain that way - or so I thought. It was cold as usual but there was little snow at first. We drove to family gatherings, brought desserts, visited and showed off my growing belly... I was pregnant with our first child! We were very excited! This would be a great Christmas to spend with family.
However, the weather had different plans. The days leading up to Christmas were filled with snow. Snow. Snow. Snow. So much snow, that we couldn't get out of our apartment. We waited and watched as the snow continued to fall. Within 24 hours - over 30 inches of snow fell and essentially trapped us in our apartment. Evening visits with family and Christmas parties were missed. When we finally pushed our screen door open and dug a path to our vehicles - we found that they were also buried. It would be another day or so before we could even leave.

We missed the Christmas Eve festivities but finally made it to visit family on Christmas day. Though it was fun to be snowed-in with Dan those few days, I would hope that it never happens again so close to the holidays!
