The League of Incredible Vegetables!

Thursday, November 15, 2012

It was a bright and sunny day in Bumblyburg until Dr. Flurry came to town. This chillin' villain wants to freeze the entire city in fear! This job is too big for LarryBoy to handle alone, so he turns to "The League of Incredible Vegetables" for help! The League is up for the task, but finds that their own fears could land them in Dr. Flurry's deep freeze! Will they remember to turn to the One who is bigger than all their fears before the whole town ends up on ice? Find out in this heroic new VeggieTales episode with a lesson in handling fear!

My son loves to pretend that he is in fact, a super hero! With a receiving blanket tucked into the back of his shirt - he jumps, leaps and valiantly flies runs through our home. This may be why I have heard non stop excitement from him about The League of Incredible Vegetables!

There is always a neat lesson tucked into each and every VeggieTales episode - maybe "tucked" isn't the right word. They are always centered around an important and valuable topic for children. Dealing with fear and having courage is something we routinely talk about and help walk our children through. This gives them an opportunity to identify with some of their favorite characters.

Veggie Tales Live!

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Last evening, I had the pleasure of taking my children to their first concert! Veggie Tales Live! They absolutely love their Veggie Tales DVD's - so I knew this would be a thrill for them. I mean, seeing a live, giant, talking tomato and cucumber? Who wouldn't dance the aisles with excitement?  There were plenty of cute little kids doing that!

On the way to Veggie Tales Live, my son was a little nervous.  The thought of a real, I mean real tomato that would talk... was a little worrisome for my little guy.  He quickly concluded that "it is really people under there".  Smart kid.  He didn't attempt to dance in his seat or the aisle like most of the children who were there.  Yet he did have a wonderful time.

The Veggie Tales characters sang and danced to many of our favorite Silly Songs with Larry.  This included my personal favorite, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything.

A cute storyline went along with all of the silly songs and it flowed very nicely. I promise, you've never ever ever ever ever seen a show like Veggie Tales Live.

Veggie Tales: Princess and the Pop Star

Monday, August 1, 2011

It's a royal switcheroo! Princess Poppyseed’s life on her family’s farm is far from the glamorous world of her favorite pop singer Vanna Banana. While Princess milks the cows and dreams of a life on stage, Vanna has her own dreams of a life far from the hectic pace of stardom that leaves her feeling alone and lonely. On a chance meeting at a playground, Vanna and Princess cross paths and realize they look almost exactly alike, which leads to the crazy notion that maybe they could switch lives! In a flash, the girls’ secret plan is launched and Princess is whisked to her new life as a pop star while Vanna gets to live her dream of a life away from the pressure of fame! As Princess tries to live up to the demands of being a diva and Vanna learns how to milk the cows, things don’t go as smoothly as they would like! As each girl realizes the life they longed for doesn’t fulfill all their dreams, they learn that the life God gave them is the one for which they were uniquely and lovingly designed.

We always enjoy watching Veggie Tales in our home, I think this probably the kids favorite so far!  Savannah loves to sing as she's busy around the house or playing outside... I think she especially loved the similarity in the Vanna Banana's name compared to hers.

What a great way to relay the message to your kids that the grass may see greener on the other side of the fence... but everyone has their own difficulties to overcome.
